on the way back to sydney via qantas

Every so often, you go through an experience that leaves a profound impact, call it an unforgettable moment if you will, like the times when a baby is born or when someone gets married or when someone wins the lottery. I had one of those moments the past weekend where I flew down to Melbourne for some much needed RT and ES. Melbourne, to say the least, is a very unique experience to Sydney - its European in its layout with cobble stoned lanes and wide tree lined avenues filled with whimsical trams trotting along. The people are more relaxed, more quirky and in general, would probably not survive the haste that is Sydney. I had an excellent time down there, it felt like I was in some foreign country with a fast approaching snow storm - in other words, it was freezing. It was absolutely the coldest weather I have experienced before and believe me, I have walked through snow bare foot and even that was warmer than Melbourne. Oh well, I guess this will prepare me for my real European adventures where the weather is much like Melbourne.

And with any new experience, there are new accompaning memories, the most vivid is the shopping experience where the lanes are filled with boutiques of every kind. The most unforgettable - coming across the most expensive piece of clothing I have touched but dared not try on - a $10,000 Dior Homme black leather jacket with superlatives not even coming close to describing the feel, texture and quality of the jacket. It was unforgettable when I picked up this unpretentious jacket made of the softest leather, examing the cut, checking out the label and to rest my eyes on the price tag where it did not move. A moment I will never forget.

Crown Casion was another unforgettable memory as well where the sheer size, opulance, crass and vice was astounding. 101 Collins Street was memorable as well with its breathtaking foyer. I only wish I had photos to share. The flight was also memorable in that it took less than an hour to arrive back in Sydney - it takes me longer to travel home from work! I think I'm starting to enjoy flying where the rush of takeoff leaves you wanting to use the bathroom but can't until 15 minutes into the flight.

So that was Melbourne. Would I go back? Yes. Would I fly Qantas? Yes. Would I buy that jacket? Yes.

At this precise moment, when I re-read my blog and noticed FOUR comments - is probably the most happy i've been in a while - can't stop smiling - people read me.

Anyway, RT and ES, if you've read the previous blog stands for Retail Therapy and Excessive Spending

I read it too - but sometimes your blogs hurt my head and I just can't go on - like this one, I skimmed it so I didn't notice the 'ES' etc.

It's rare, but I found one, a typo. "Crown Casion".

But is it a mistake? Google the meaning of Casion and you'll see

I'm sorry Ty P, didn't mean to make you feel sad, but it's the truth =)

Proud? Happy? I'm more than those emotions can describe. I'm just pleased that people read what I write. I wish I had a weekly column in a major newspaper so I can be like Carrie and get paid a lot of money for talking about crap
