On the way to buy photocopy paper

Insanity can best be described as the mental state where all logic and sense fails. For someone people, this ailment can be prolonged, for otherwise, it can be momentary or possibly instantaneous.

I had a few the momentary insanity periods the other day. After spending the morning realising my printer was out of paper, I debated with myself whether or not it was worth the trek up to work to steal a ream of paper. So naturally, I got changed and proceeded my weekday trek to work on a weekend. Half way there, logic and sense prevailed. What happens if someone else is there and they see me stealing blank paper or worse, I had nothing to carry it in. So logic and sense told me to abandon that just as I was on Market Street.

But they soon left me as a few minutes later, I found myself staring down the stairs of the gleaming David Jones food hall looking for free samples to avoid paying for lunch. I strode past the wine section but insanity told me to stop. Fortunately for me, I only left David Jones with a bottle of Moet and Veuve as logic and sense told me to put the Dom and Krug back on the shelf.

Still in need of paper, I talked myself into resuming my hunt of the free paper using the David Jones shopping bag as a decoy. But alas, insanity led me up the steps into the new Burberry store. If it wasn’t for the gorgeous streams of sunlight, I would have walked out of there with a black umbrella that cost more than the average weekly wage.

The sale sign outside of Hugo Boss didn’t help either. I left there with a new belt, but logic and sense told me to get it.

Now in desperate need of food and paper, I did what any same person would do and walked to Woolworths, picked up the cheapest ream of paper and the cheapest loaf of bread and proceed home.

I’m not sure if these moments of insanity will eventually become periods of insanity, but it is something I hope to work out in my upcoming visit to the psychiatrist.
