on the way home from a family dinner
I hope everyone has enjoyed their easter break - I did. Spending most of my days doing nothing, reading the paper and just sitting around and missing the days of being unemployed and on welfare and indulging on easter eggs which miraciously were on sale the day after easter friday. And being the tight arse I am, I naturally stocked up and put them into deep freeze, ready for the spirt of easter in 2005.
On another front, Friday marked the day I entered the realm of trendy restaurants and celebrity chefs having dined at the superb Billy Kwong's on Crown. The experience was simply amazing, devouring modern asian cuisine on little coffee tables straddling little 3 legged stools cramed back to back in a darkly lit room frangranted with tiger lillies and bowls of cinnamon sticks and waiting in line for the only toilet in the complex. I loved it. The food was simply sensational and was well worth the cost, which is quite reasonable for the level of service and quality, quite a change from the dodgy places I've been too recently. And the evening was made even more special because I receive an unexpected graduation present from VHH and again, thanks for the surprise.
Now that I've experienced fashionable restaurants - there will be a long list to get through: Longrain, MG, Imperial, Salt, Rockpool, Iceberg, Maccas on George, Est, Tetsuya's and many more. A list I will add to my goals and pass off as another sympton of affluenza.
But I did manage to catch up with some old uni friends at a 21st in woop woop land, which was supposedly a rich area (I couldn't tell in the middle of the night) and we had a great time, reminiscing about the old days of sitting in the back of the lecture room, listening to the boring muses of actuaries and paying more attention to totally unrelated events. Which looking back, probably explained my poor grades; but it was good to catch up with old friends and this is an activity I hope to do more of.
So marks another uneventful easter break and with another day before a week in the office then another long weekend, I'll will starve myself so I can enjoy eating at trendy restuarants, and hopefully, however minutely, imagine that I owned a trendy and acclaimed restaurant.
Tyarrhea now watching this kooky australian movie and hope everyone is well
